Insuring eBay Canada Shipments in Shippo

eBay provides a Canada Post account in Shippo for eBay Canada merchants. This Canada Post account can be used to purchase labels only for orders imported automatically from eBay Canada. Canada Post includes limited insurance for many services at no cost.

Canada Post provides basic liability insurance coverage for most services — this is included free of charge. See Canada Post Services Including Insurance for coverage limits.

Note:

Shipping labels will not be available using this Canada Post account for any "order" created using the Create Order button in Shippo, an "order" imported from any other store, or an "order" imported by CSV file — Rates are not appearing for non-eBay Canada orders. To purchase labels for other orders, please connect your own carrier account — Connect Your Own Carrier Account

Additional insurance can be purchased through XCover.

You can purchase additional insurance for higher-value packages when you are creating your label — Adding Insurance to a Package. This must be selected when you are creating your label and cannot be added after you click the Buy Label button.

Why is the additional insurance not printed on the shipping label?

Additional insurance is provided by XCover, not Canada Post — Shipping Insurance in ShippoXCover coverage will not be printed on your Canada Post label. Only insurance purchased through Canada Post at the Post Office can be printed on the label.

You can confirm that you've purchased insurance by visiting the Shipments Page in Shippo. The Rate column will show the total shipping rate (including the cost of insurance) and will say "Insured" just under the rate.

Why is the rate on the shipping label different than the rate on the Shippo Shipments Page

The shipment is insured by XCover, not Canada Post. Because Canada Post is not the insurer, the cost of the insurance is not billed by Canada Post and is not printed on the label as part of the rate.

To see the total cost of XCover coverage, please take the base shipping rate that is printed on your label and deduct that from the total shipping rate listed on the Shippo Shipments Page
