Tags make it easy to manage your orders in Shippo. This guide covers how to create, add, edit, view, filter, and automate tags.
Tags make bulk actions, like bulk-editing orders and bulk-purchasing labels, easier. They also let you filter orders and quickly tell groups of customers apart.
Create a new tag
To create a new tag from the Settings page:
- Go to the Tags tab.
- Click Create Tag +.
- Select the icon you want to use for this group of orders and enter a tag name.
- Click Save.
To create a new tag from the Orders page:
- Go to the Orders page.
- Hover over or click the + button in the Tags column of the order.
- Select + New tag.
|
Note: Tag names aren't case-sensitive and are limited to 13 characters. Tags can share the same icon, but not the same name (for example, "Insurance" and "INSURANCE" count as the same tag). You can create an unlimited number of tags. |
How to add, remove, and edit tags
To add a tag to an order:
- Go to the Orders page.
- Click the + icon in the Tags column.
- Select the tag you want to apply to the order.
| Note: You can assign an unlimited number of tags to an order. |
To add a tag to multiple orders:
- Go to the Orders page.
- Select your orders by checking the box on the left side of each one.
- Click Tag in the top navigation bar.
- Select the tag you want to apply to the selected orders.
To delete or edit a tag:
- From the Settings page, go to the Tags tab.
- To delete a tag, click the trash icon to the right of the tag name.
- To edit a tag, select a new icon or enter a new tag name. The change saves automatically.
|
Note: Deleting a tag removes it from any assigned orders and automation rules. Editing a tag updates its icon and text everywhere it's already applied. |
How to filter orders by tags
To filter your orders by tags:
- Go to the Orders page.
- Click Tags in the top navigation bar.
- Select your tags by checking the box on the left side.
- Click Apply.
| Note: Filtering by multiple tags shows every order that has at least one of the selected tags applied. |
How to use automations with tags
To create an automation rule from the Settings page:
- Go to the Automations tab.
- Click Create New Rule.
- Select an If property for which orders your rule should apply to.
- Select the Assign tag action, then choose the right tag.
- Name your automation rule (required).
- Click Save Rule.
- Click Run Automations.
|
Note: To learn more, see Automation Rules Overview. Only one tag can currently be applied to an order through automation. We're working on expanding this. |
