Whether you haven't connected an online store yet or you just need to send a one-off package, Shippo makes it easy to create a one-time label. This guide walks through creating and purchasing a one-off shipping label from start to finish.
Create a label
- Log in to your Shippo account.
- Click Create Label in the top right corner of the Orders page.
Enter address information
Sender address: Your default address is automatically populated as the sender address. If you're shipping from somewhere else, edit the sender address to match.
Recipient address:
- Enter the recipient's name, company (if applicable), email, phone, country, street, city, state, and postal code.
- Select the address type.
- Click Next: Order details in the top right corner.
Add order details
The Order Details page is where you enter everything Shippo needs to find the best price for the right label. Fill in the following:
Add the items you're shipping
- Go to the Items section and click Add item.
- Enter the item's description, quantity, unit weight, unit value, country of origin, and SKU if applicable.
- Click Add.
Set your package dimensions
Custom dimensions: If you're using your own packaging, enter the length, width, and height.
Carrier-provided parcel: If you're shipping in a carrier-provided parcel from USPS, UPS, CouriersPlease, or Fastway, you can select it to populate the dimensions automatically.
- Click the dropdown that reads Custom Dimensions.
- Select Carrier Provided Parcel.
- Choose the parcel you're shipping with from the dropdown.
Enter package weight
Rates are calculated from your package's dimensions and weight, so enter both accurately. Incorrect weight or dimensions can lead to carrier adjustment charges.
Enter the weight, then select the unit: g, kg, oz, or lb.
Choose additional options
Select any that apply:
- Create a return label
- Acknowledge that your shipment contains alcohol
- Acknowledge that your shipment contains dry ice
Once you've entered your dimensions, weight, and any additional options, click Save.
Purchase your label
After you save your package details, Shippo shows you a list of rates from available carriers, sorted by price and speed.
Before you purchase, you can also:
- Insure your shipment
- Add signature confirmation
Once you're ready:
- Select the label you want from the list.
- Click Buy in the top right corner.
- Review your order, then click Purchase.
- Choose to download a 4x6 thermal label (PDF) or an 8.5x11 packing slip (PDF).
That's it. Your label is ready to print and ship.
