Using a Personal Canada Post Account in Shippo

You can connect your existing Canada Post account to Shippo in just a few clicks. Once connected, you’ll be able to retrieve your contracted Canada Post rates and purchase labels directly through Shippo.


How to Connect Your Canada Post Account

  • In Shippo, go to Settings in the left navigation panel

  • Select Carriers

  • Click + Connect Carrier Account

  • From the list of available carriers, choose Canada Post

  • In the pop-up window that appears, click Connect via Canada Post

  • You’ll be redirected to the Canada Post website

  • Log in using your Canada Post username and password

  • Once complete, you'll return to Shippo

  • Your Canada Post account will now appear as an active carrier

 

 

 

Note:

  • There is no longer a need to manually enter API credentials in Shippo. The authentication is handled directly through Canada Post during the connection process.
  • Canada Post will bill you for postage purchased with your Canada Post account in Shippo (except for the eBay-provided Canada Post account).

How to access support

  1. Visit the Canada Post Support page.

  2. Choose the topic that best matches your issue (for example: Tracking, Lost & Damaged Items, Mail Delivery, Business Services).

  3. Under the “Contact us" section, choose from the following support contact options: "Online", "Social", "Phone", and "Mail."


Surcharges for Misdeclared Shipments

Canada Post may charge additional fees directly to the Canada Post account owner if the shipment details submitted during label creation are inaccurate. This can occur when the actual package weight, dimensions, or addressing differ from what was originally declared in Shippo.

To prevent unexpected surcharges, always enter the most accurate weight, dimensions, and address information before purchasing your label. Canada Post will assess the shipment after it enters their network, and any differences may result in adjustments or extra charges billed by the carrier.


Shipping from Canada to the U.S. (Effective August 29, 2025: Zonos Account Key Required for DDP)

You can now ship from Canada to the United States using your personal Canada Post account with duties and taxes prepaid (DDP) through Zonos, directly in Shippo. DDP is mandatory for all Canada Post shipments going from Canada to the U.S.

To enable Canada Post → U.S. shipping in Shippo, you must connect a Zonos Account Key to your Canada Post carrier settings.

How to Add Your Zonos Account Key (Web App Users)

  1. Go to Settings → Carriers → Your Accounts → Canada Post

  2. Click "Edit"

  3. Locate the “Zonos Account Key” field

  4. Enter the Zonos Account Key provided to you by Zonos

  5. Select Save

If you do not yet have a Zonos key, you’ll need to set up a Zonos Verified Account. Please refer to Canada Post's support documentation here: Prepay U.S. duties with Zonos.

Once your Zonos Account Key is saved, Shippo will allow you to retrieve shipping rates, purchase labels, and your Canada Post shipments to the U.S. will be sent with "DDP" as required incoterm.
