How to Use Shippo Intelligence

Shippo Intelligence is a built-in analytics experience that helps you make sense of your shipping data—no setup or integrations required. From cost accuracy to delivery performance, it gives you clear, actionable insights directly inside your Shippo Dashboard.

What You Can Do with Shippo Intelligence

Shippo Intelligence helps you:

  • See your true shipping costs — Compare rated vs. invoiced charges and spot unexpected surcharges.
  • Stay ahead of delivery issues — Monitor carrier reliability and track on-time performance.
  • Act in real time — Visualize volume and carrier mix trends to adjust your operations quickly.


How to Access Shippo Intelligence

  1. Go to your Shippo API Portal Dashboard.
  2. Find Intelligence in the left-hand menu.
  3. You’ll see three tabs in this section:
    • Labels
    • Shipments
    • Spend


Labels Dashboard

The Labels Dashboard shows trends in your shipping volume, carrier mix, and service levels over time. You can use it to monitor label creation activity, identify spikes or slowdowns, and see how your carrier usage changes week to week. This helps you plan staffing, adjust routing, and stay ahead of operational shifts.

What You’ll See

  • Total label volume (minus refunds)
  • Total and Average rated label price
  • Carrier and service level mix
  • Volume trends over time

How to Use It

  1. Select your date range using the Label creation date field.
  2. Choose filters such as carrier, service level, and origin/destination country.
  3. Review spikes or dips in label creation over time.
  4. Review total and average rated label price, sorted by carrier and service level.

Tip: Adjust carrier mix or staffing based on trends.


Spend Dashboard

The Spend dashboard helps you understand how much you’re really spending on shipping, so you can take action fast and save. You can compare quoted vs. actual shipping costs, and spot hidden fees or surcharges.  

What You’ll See

  • Total invoice amount
  • Spend sorted by Labels purchased, Refunds, Surcharges, and Positive adjustments.
  • Rated price vs. Invoiced amounts side-by-side
  • Surcharge breakdowns by carrier and service
  • Exportable data for reporting

How to Use It

  1. Select your date range using the Invoice close date field.
  2. Choose filters such as carrier, service level, and origin/destination country.
  3. Review your spend broken down by: Labels, Refunds, Surcharges, and Positive adjustments.
  4. Review the Rated Price vs. Invoiced Amount chart for discrepancies and comparisons by carrier.
  5. Click Export to download your data.

Tip: Use filters to drill down by carrier, service, or destination to quickly pinpoint problem areas.

Note: The Spend dashboard is only available for shipments billed through Shippo carrier accounts or if Shippo manages the billing on your behalf.


Shipments Dashboard

Understand how carriers are performing across service levels and regions. See late or delayed shipments as they happen, shift volume to faster-moving services, and adjust delivery estimates to keep orders on track and customers happy.

What You’ll See

  • In-transit shipments (% of on-time, late, and delayed shipments)
  • Delivery status (successfully and unsuccessfully delivered shipments)
  • Performance (average transit-time)

How to Use It

  1. Select your date range using the Label creation date field.
  2. Choose filters such as carrier, service level, and origin/destination country.
  3. Look for trends in late and delayed deliveries or transit time spikes.

Tip: Identify carriers or zones causing recurring issues and proactively adjust your mix before they impact SLAs.


Filters

Shippo Intelligence includes flexible filters to help you focus on what matters:

  • Carrier
  • Carrier Service level
  • Origin / Destination country

You can apply these filters across any dashboard to narrow your insights.


How to Export Data

You can export your data from any Shippo Intelligence dashboard — Spend, Shipments, or Labels — to analyze or share outside of Shippo.

To export data:

  1. Open the dashboard you’d like to export.
    • Spend – Compare rated vs. invoiced amounts and surcharges
    • Shipments – Review on-time delivery and transit performance
    • Labels – Track label creation volume and carrier mix trends
  2. Set your filters.
    Adjust your date range, carrier, service level, or origin/destination filters to refine the data you want included in your export.
  3. Click the “Export” button.
    You’ll find it in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
  4. Download your file.
    Once your export is ready, it will automatically download in CSV format to your computer. Depending on your browser settings, you may be prompted to confirm or select a download location.

FAQs

Do I need to install anything?
No, it’s already available in your Shippo account.

Why can’t I see invoice data?
The Spend dashboard’s invoice data is only available for Shippo-billed labels.

Can I export my data?
Yes — all dashboards have export options for CSV reports. The export includes all the same metrics visible in your dashboard, formatted for easy reporting or sharing. You can download the data in CSV format.
