How to Ship Alcohol with Shippo

Shippo supports shipping alcohol in the United States via UPS & FedEx, and in Australia via Couriers Please.

Shipping beer, wine, and alcohol isn't as simple as dropping it off at your local post office (USPS will not ship alcohol). For the carriers that do support Alcohol, there are extras required, like special messaging on labels and adult signature required confirmation.

Creating an Alcohol Shipment

At Shippo, we make this process as simple as possible! If you have a supported account with UPS and/or FedEx, designate a shipment as containing alcohol, and we will take care of the description, special label, and confirmation type.

Web App Users

Web App users can designate that a shipment contains alcohol on the Order Details page:

  • Click into the Order or create a new one.
  • Then, Navigate to Package Options section.
  • Select the Shipment contains alcohol.
  • Lastly, select the recipient type from consumer or licensee.

API Users

API users can add the "alcohol" shipment extra for label purchases to facilitate shipping alcohol. Please refer to our full reference for more information.
