How to Ship Alcohol with Shippo

We support shipping alcohol in the US through UPS and FedEx, and in Australia through Couriers Please. USPS doesn't allow alcohol shipments, so if you're shipping beer, wine, or liquor, you'll need one of these carriers instead of dropping off at your local post office.

Shipping alcohol comes with extra requirements, like special label messaging and adult signature confirmation. We handle the details for you. If you have a supported account with UPS and/or FedEx, just mark your shipment as containing alcohol, and we'll take care of the description, label, and confirmation type.

Creating an alcohol shipment

To mark a shipment as alcohol in the web app:

  • Click into your order, or create a new one.
  • Go to the Package options section.
  • Select Shipment contains alcohol.
  • Choose the recipient type: consumer or licensee.

API users can add the alcohol shipment extra to your label purchase requests. See our full reference for details.
