Customizing your Package Settings in Shippo

The Packages page in shippo allows you to default your units of measurement and create package templates, which will help streamline your label creation process and get your orders out faster than ever. In this guide, we will show you how to access and set up your Package Settings and Create a Package Template.

Accessing your Packages Page

To Access your Packages page:

  • Click on the Settings icon from the main dashboard.
  • Then, click Packages in the navigation panel on the left.

Here, you can manage your default package weight unit, package measurement unit, and package templates.

To set your default Unit of Measure:

  • Open the drop-down arrow.
  • Choose between grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds.
  • click the Save button.

The Default distance unit field is where you will select the unit for distance measure used for package dimensions. This will be displayed by default when you're creating labels.

To select a default distance unit field:

  • Click on the drop-down arrow.
  • click on your selection between centimeters and inches.
  • click the Save button.

Note:

These will be the default units listed in the app, but you can select a different unit to use for a single order if needed.

Creating a Package Template

If you find you’re using the same package size(s) often, we recommend setting up a Package Template. This will save you the time of entering the specific dimensions and weight for every label each time you’re using the same size box or envelope

To create a Package Template:

  • From the Packages Page, navigate to the Package Template section.
  • Then, click New Template

Custom Dimensions

  • Choose Custom Dimensions from the dropdown menu.
  • Select either Box or tube or Poly mailer.
  • Enter in your Package Dimensions and Weight (optional).
  • Name your Package Template.
  • Select Set as default package template for label purchase.
  • Click Save Template.

Carrier Provided Parcel

  • Choose Carrier Provided Parcel.
  • Select the Carrier Provided parcel you would like to use from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter Weight (optional).
  • Select Set as default package template for label purchase.
  • Click Save Template.

You can save up to 25 different package templates in your Shippo account and can select any one of those templates to use during the label creation workflow.
