How to Automatically Send Tracking Email Notifications with Shippo

Sending Tracking emails lets your customers know when their product will arrive, where it is along the shipping process and gives customers assurance that your business is trustworthy.

And, because we know how essential tracking information is to your customers, Shippo has made sending out tracking notifications easier than ever, allowing you to set up Shippo to send tracking emails out automatically after your orders have shipped and arrived to their destination.

Tracking emails contain a link to the order's tracking page, the tracking number, a snapshot of when their order will arrive, the address it's being sent to, and you can even add custom branding and messaging.

In this article, learn how to automatically send out tracking emails to your customers.

 


How to Access your Tracking Settings

In your Tracking settings, you can view what your tracking emails and tracking pages will look like, add your custom branding and messaging, and enable automatic sending after your order has shipped and arrived. 

To access your Tracking Page:

  • Open the Settings tab
  • Then click Tracking in the left navigation panel.

How to Enable Automatic "Your Order is Shipping" Email Notifications

Enabling automatic shipping notifications is a great way to make sure your customers always receive their tracking info in a timely manner. 

To turn on Automatic Shipping Notifications:

  • From the Tracking Page, open the Your Order is Shipping menu
  • Turn the Send Email toggle on.
  • Enter your email's custom signature.
  • Select the amount of time delay before the email is automatically sent.
  • Click Save

 

Note:

Including a customized message on delivery confirmation emails is not available for Starter Plan users. If you'd like to include a customized message, please upgrade to a Pro or Premier Plan.

 

How to Enable Automatic "Your Order has Arrived" Email Notifications

Automatically let your customers know when their order has arrived. 

To Turn on Automatic Arrived Notifications:

  • From the Tracking page, open the Your order has Arrived menu.
  • Turn the Send Email toggle on.
  • Enter your email's custom signature.
  • Select the amount of time delay before the email is automatically sent.
  • Click Save

 

Note:

Including a customized message on delivery confirmation emails is not available for Starter Plan users. If you'd like to include a customized message, please upgrade to a Pro or Premier Plan.

 

How to Customize your Tracking Emails

If you are on the Pro Plan, you can give your customers a seamless experience by customizing your tracking emails and pages with your Brand logo and colors. To do so:

  • Open the Brand and Footer Elements menu. 
  • From here, you can view your current selection for your logo and color scheme. 
  • To update your brand logo and color scheme, click Update Brand Elements.
  • This will take you to your Branding page where you can upload your brand image and input/select your brand colors. 
 

Design Tip:

Make your email's design visually pleasing and easy to read by choosing a dark Primary color and a light Background color. 

  • Once you have uploaded your brand elements, click Save to update.
 

Keep in mind:

This feature is only available with the Pro Plan. If are not using our Pro Plan, automatic tracking emails can be sent without custom branding elements.


How to Customize your Tracking Page

Your customers can access the Tracking Page from inside their Tracking Emails and will give your customers more tracking details. 

To access your Tracking Page Settings:

  • Open the Settings tab
  • Click Tracking in the left navigation panel.
  • Then, click Tracking Page in the top menu.

From here you can add a promotional image, turn your image into an image link, and preview your tracking page from both a desktop or mobile device.

To add a promotional image:

  • Navigate to the side bar on the right and click upload image.

To turn your Promotional image into an Image Link:

  • Input the destination link into the the Promo Link field.

To view your tracking page from both a desktop or mobile device:

  • Choose to view a preview of your tracking page from a Mobile or Desktop browser by clicking the corresponding icon in the top right of the page.
  • Click View Test Link.
