We have third party insurance available on Shippo, which is provided by Shipsurance. To add Shippo's third-party insurance coverage to any package, enter the desired coverage amount in the "Buy additional insurance" field on Step 1 of the label creation process. Please note that entering a value in this box does not declare a value, or purchase the carrier's insurance. This will purchase insurance through Shipsurance. and Voyager Indemnity Insurance Company. The insurance costs $0.45 per $100 to be insured for domestic shipments and $.75 per $100 to be insured for international shipments. We can insure shipments sent through USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL Express, and Canada Post.
This insurance covers up to $5,000.00 per package. Packages shipped via Canada Post, FedEx Smart Post, UPS Mail Innovations, and USPS First Class Mail are limited to $1,000.00, per package. You can add additional insurance to your shipment during the process of creating a label. You will see a box labeled “Buy Additional Insurance”.

The same process goes for our API users: please specify the insurance value and currency in your Shipment call and your package will automatically be covered by our insurance.
